Kutztown University is happy to be hosting the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix. We’re looking forward to a great weekend. Below are a few items I hope will make the day go more smoothly for teams and spectators.
SHANNON SULLIVAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
As it has for the past several years, the Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix serves as a fundraiser for the Shannon Sullivan Memorial Scholarship at Kutztown University. Shannon was an all-state player at Pine Grove HS before attending KU. As a Golden Bear, she was a four-year letter winner, a two-time captain & member of three PSAC East Division championship teams. She graduated with honors in May of 2006 and was tragically killed in a car accident the following August. This is the 8th tournament to raise funds and the incredible generosity of participants in previous years has helped us award scholarships in Shannon’s honor to a KU player each of the past eight years.
The tournament will be played in Keystone Hall (#46 on map) and O’Pake Fieldhouse (#47). Both facilities are under one roof. Teams playing in this Keystone Hall should set up in the balcony above the playing venue. Bleacher seating is available. Please, no food/drink other than water in plastic bottles in Keystone Arena.
Teams playing in O’Pake Fieldhouse should set up there. Please be considerate of other teams and use a reasonable amount of space for your team area. We do not prohibit outside food but coolers, tables, crock pots, etc. are not permitted.
NO TEAM SHOULD SET UP IN ANY HALLWAY OR LOBBY.
There is plenty of free parking on campus. The primary lots to use will be E1 and E2. Should these lots fill please use F4 or F1. These lots are easily accessible by driving past Keystone Hall and turning RIGHT at the 4-way stop. Please do not park illegally in any of the lots and be considerate of our campus neighbors and use the lots on campus. Saturday will be a busy day on campus with our spring football game and a home lacrosse contest. Please follow the signage and park in areas designated for use by our event.
A concession stand will be available. The stand will open at 7:30 a.m. both days. It will remain open until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and through the quarterfinals on Sunday. There will also be a Kona Ice truck in the parking lot and we will be holding a 50/50 raffle each day and selling Kutztown Volleyball t-shirts.
